Modern Erosion
By Cui Li
The film is about how modern life is becoming more and more stressful for people. People's lives are gradually eroded by work and other pressures, and life becomes suffocating, as if human beings were born as machines, and they are bored to death. It is as if people were born to be machines, to do nothing, to sleep, to be physically and mentally destroyed to some extent. Throughout the video, I pay homage to Paul Sharits’ T,O,U,C,H,I,N,G., making the whole dreamscape more effective through constant repetition and flashing clips. The video is meant to be a reminder to stop in time, to stop this unhealthy modern encroachment, to discover the beauty of life and rediscover the hope of living.
