NEW MEDIA

I am a fine artist working across sculpture, digital media, and installation. My practice is informed by scientific research, with a central focus on the human body. I explore art science, looking at DNA and cellular theory. I am particularly inspired by the texture and surface of human skin, which has prompted me to look at the microscopic details magnified on a larger scale. I use liquid latex to capture the texture and surface of human skin, and tinfoil as a mould for the latex. I use technology like microscopes and projections to enlarge and expose the unnoticed details within the human form. The aspect of the unknown intrigues me, through internal and external microscopic study. Technology supports my installations and final presentation of my work, by using digital screens and moving image I provide a visual exploration of the appearance of skin.
