Esther is Going to Commit Suicide
By Esther LuThe film documents the irrationalised world I see in my mental instability, expressing my doubts of existence, fear of life and thoughts on nihilism. I used strong contrasts of red and white, blue and yellow under a cool tonal filter. The film does not have any background music, instead it is replaced by sound effects that are not synchronised with picture, including the sounds of chewing, fire and CPR. These are used as allusions to suicide and self-harm imagery. Through surrealism I hope to convey in artistic terms my own disturbing and self-destructive tendencies in a repressive social climate.
