NEW MEDIA

Grounded in posthuman theory, practice centres around the separation of humanity and nature. Following technological advancement and urbanisation, a disconnect has formed: we act as though we have evolved beyond dependency on the planet.

Using experimental art writing techniques, I create new forms of grammar to visually represent emotions and concepts associated with disconnection. I combine my personal experience with a general perspective on the impact of this separation. This is accompanied by audio: a dialogue between natural sound, spoken word, and the emulation of wind through singing. Though the abstract footage in my artwork is digitally edited, it is created through natural refraction; a result of water interacting with a camera lens.

By reflecting on my personal journey of reconnection with the natural, I aim to create a space for my audience to consider their own disconnect and find a moment of stillness within the chaos of contemporary life.
