My work explores the metaphorical relationship between the interior of religious buildings and human interiority. Using magazine clippings and image transfers, I make detailed collages representing the interiors of religious buildings. Each collage is unglazed and displayed in a wooden floating frame, like a treasure in a box. Some areas of the image transfers are veiled by a thin layer of paper alluding to the fragility of these buildings; to their deterioration through the time and the trace of historical events. Through my comparative reading of the relationship between the interior of architectural sites of worship and human interiority, I invite the viewer to consider the ethereality, preciousness, and vulnerability of their inner selves.
